THE VAGINA BLOG PODCAST EPISODE 19: All About Vaginas with Jessy and Rebekah from Welcome to My Vagina

Today I interview the creators of Welcome To My Vagina, Jessy Caron and Rebekah Frank. Their podcast, Welcome to My vagina is about sexuality, gender rights, and sex education. Destroying the taboo of sex and shutting down misogyny via the black hole of the vagina. A laugh til you queef adventure in sex education made up on the spot, but probably (definitely) researched.

Jessy and Rebekah, what is the biggest thing you’ve learned since starting the podcast?

I was surprised about how needed this is.

Self-education. Tell me about what rabbit-holes getting into being more educated?

Let’s talk about shame. WHY do we need to have so much shame around the topic of vaginas?

“We have no idea how sexist our country is and we won’t even look at it in the face. Vagina is such an ugly word to people because it is associated with women. And it’s not even what people are addressing most of the time, people are most of the time addressing the vulva and we don’t know that because people have been erasing that from the anatomy books for centuries.”

Let’s talk about community building. How can we be building and creating a community?

Allow people to have space to make mistakes.

It’s important to challenge yourself.

“Even just in the last few years I’ve tried to be better about saying “I don’t know what that means” when I don\’t understand something, rather than pretend that I know because I don’t want them to think that I’m stupid. If I don’t ask, then I am stupid.”

“Anyone out there should take a hand mirror and check out their vag!”

Laugh as you learn (in a supportive way)

How do you like to manage your period?

OB Tampons and pads at night time.
