THE VAGINA BLOG PODCAST EPISODE 20: Caring for Your Honey Pot with Beatrice Dixon

Beatrice Dixon is the owner and creator of Honey Pot Co.

If you\’re here because your honeypot is unhappy, I\’ve been there. The whole reason I started The Honey Pot Co was because I was suffering from bacterial vaginosis for months and couldn\’t get relief. One night, an ancestor visited me in a dream and gifted me with a vision to heal myself. With her help, I created the Honey Pot Co to solve for what other brands wouldn\’t, using the power of herbs.

What inspired you to start Honey Pot Co?

The mother of invention is necessity. I had a bacterial vaginosis infection on and off for over a year and I wanted to get rid of it. I had a dream at a table with my Grandmother, who is dead, and she basically told me she had seen me going through this issue and that she had something that would alleviate the problem. She handed me a piece of paper with the ingredients on it and when i woke up I wrote them down and used it, and it worked!

It turned out to be an amazing thing. I then created the product and started having other people use it and everyone else was experiencing the same results. In 2014 the Bronner Brothers hair show came to town and we sold everything we had in a weekend and that told us it was time to launch the product. We got into Whole Foods, some natural markets, and things were just rolling. Then Target called us and we created a prototype line and it all took off from there.

Tell us about some of your products, and which is your favorite?

The normal wash is everything to me. We have CBD products, washes, sprays, wipes, all of them are my babies.

Talk to me about the CBD soothing balm.

Our salve has CBD, magnesium, argon, lavender, all the calming and relaxing ingredients. It’s amazing for helping calm things down.

What has been the response to your products?

Overwhelmingly good and positive, and met with a lot of support and love.

We have to be successful so that other black businesses can benefit. We’re all a part of this root system and this tree has to grow and the limbs have to come from that. Our goal is to be this long healthy limb that can support fruit. There is huge disparities between how black businesses can raise capital vs everybody else. We need to shed light on that.

So Bea, how do you like to manage your period?

Honey Pot’s herbal menstrual pads are my favorite, they’re like life to me. They’re my second favorite product.
